Connie Rae (Jellison) Stewart

Connie Rae Stewart, age 93, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2024 at Rose Senior Living in Avon.

She was born on December 15, 1930 in Lorain, Ohio to the late Roy and Leotta (née Michaels) Jellison. On February 1, 1949 she married C. Leonard Stewart, now deceased. Together they ran the Tri-County Gas Company. 

Connie is survived by her sons Glen (Joyce) Stewart, Nashville, TN, Douglas (Jackie) Stewart, Orlando, FL  and her 5 grandchildren; John Paul (Kelly) Stewart, Megan (Fredo) Stewart, Michael (Sarah) Stewart, Rachel Stewart, and Allison (Reed) Stewart, and her brother, Bill Jellison of Put-In-Bay,OH. She was preceded in death by her sister Maureen (Ben) Rodin.

In 1949 she graduated Valedictorian of Class A from Lorain High School. She was proud of her friendship with Toni Morrison, both before and after Toni became a famous author.
Connie enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, and reading the daily news. She was a regular blood donor who gave a total 11 gallons of blood. Connie worked all of her adult life with her father and husband in their business, Tri County Gas Co. She showed her care of animals, children, and soldiers with regular donations. 

Connie was a lifelong member and supporter of the Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to Davalynn Reinker, who was Connie’s caregiver and friend for the past few years.

Friends may call Monday, April 1, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. till the time of service at 12:00 P.M. at the  Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 West 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio with the Rev. Leila Jindra officiating.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Cemetery, Amherst Township.

Flowers gratefully declined.
