Mildred Sutherland Obituary

 Mildred Jean (nee McCombs) Sutherland, 84, of Wellington passed away at her home on Monday, February 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  Milly was the loving wife of Ronald Sutherland, who preceded her in death with his passing in March 2023.  They were married on June 6, 1959 and celebrated more than 63 years together.

     Mrs. Sutherland was born in Blairsville, PA on November 22, 1939, the daughter of the late George Eugene McCombs and Effie Viola (nee Libengood) McCombs. She was a member of the 1958 class of Elyria High School.  Mrs. Sutherland was part of the Valley City community for over 50 years.

     In addition to spending time with her family, Milly enjoyed many creative pursuits such as scrapbooking, drawing, sewing, candy making and cake decorating.  She also adored Dexter, her Golden Retriever.

     Mrs. Sutherland worked as a dispatcher at Medina County Sheriff's Department for many years retiring in 2001. She had also worked as a dispatcher for the Valley City Volunteer Fire Department.

     Milly is survived by daughters, Janet Louise Sutherland of Leander, TX, Jill Michelle (Mark, deceased) Bagnall of Wellington, Rhonda Marie (Shawn) Curtis of Mansfield, Shannon Patricia (Mark, deceased) Savage of Medina, sons Ronald Keith (Connie) Sutherland of Sharon Center, Matthew Scott (Virginia) Sutherland of Toledo, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sister Bonnie (Pete) Stiwald of Vermilion, brothers Daryl (Evelyn) Kelly of Grafton, and Randy (Linda) Kelly of Lorain.
     In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brother Larry Kelly, sister Joanne Riley, grandson David Sutherland and sons-in-law ~ Mark Bagnall, Mark Savage.

     Services will be private.
