Jaime Colon Aponte Obituary

Jaime Colon Aponte, 61, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin, Ohio.

Jaime was born on February 23, 1964, in Lorain, Ohio, to Jose and Marie (née Aponte) Colon. A lifelong resident of Lorain, Jaime was deeply rooted in his community and family. He was a hardworking and dependable man who dedicated many years of service as a parts inspector at Nelson Stud, where he was respected for his commitment and attention to detail.

Jaime would help family and friends out with handy work around their homes and fixing cars for people Also using his skills to help build his sons nonprofit boxing gym Legacy Youth Boxing Club. He would also help build rings for other boxing clubs in Northeast Ohio making sure events were solid and safe before the first bell rang.

Jaime was a quiet, kind soul who showed his love through loyalty, perseverance, and being there for those who mattered most. Family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in his loved ones, especially his grandchild, who brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Colon, and his brother, Angel Colon.

Jaime is survived by his loving mother, Marie Colon of Puerto Rico and children Jaime (Franceliz) Colon and Celia (Brett) Vasquez his brothers, Jose Colon, Hector Colon, Juan Colon, and Eduardo Aponte, all of Lorain; Carlos Colon of New York and Hector Antonio Aponte of Puerto Rico; and his sisters, Ana Colon of Puerto Rico and Elsa Colon of New York. He is also survived by his cherished grandchild, Gabriel Colon, who will forever hold a special place in his heart.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Jaime’s life on January 24, 2026, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Road, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th St., Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Jaime Colon Aponte will be remembered for his gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family. Though he is gone, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
